The Service and Volunteerism Specialist collaborates with key stakeholders to establish goals and objectives related to youth leadership and civic engagement for inclusion in Arizona’s state service plan. This position is responsible for staffing the Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC), which includes managing the application process, selecting candidates, and onboarding and training commissioners. The Specialist also facilitates the GYC workgroup, executive committee, and quarterly meetings in coordination with the chairs, which may require working some evenings and/or weekends. Additionally, the Specialist assists the AmeriCorps Director in planning and coordinating the annual Arizona Summit on Volunteerism and Civic Engagement, the Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards, and other relevant events to ensure the representation of youth voices.
