As the Compliance & Training Officer you will:

  • Report to the Director as you play an essential role in supporting and leading federal grant compliance and training for AmeriCorps State programs and the Montana Commission on Community Service.
  • Will use AmeriCorps standards to lead and meet the responsibilities of a pass-through entity with subrecipients. This includes annual risk assessment, compliance monitoring, and maintaining appropriate documentation throughout the compliance monitoring cycle. 
  • Will work independently and as a member of an impactful team to strengthen AmeriCorps State programs in Montana, expand national service, and deliver training that meets identified needs, either by coordination or direct presentations.
  • Responsible for maintaining the GOCS Training & Technical Assistance Directory, coordinating annual in-state trainings, and actively participating in national calls, training committees, advisory councils, and workgroups. 
  • Will manage administrative functions for their projects, including documenting procedures, communicating with the Commission on Community Service, Office of the Governor, and other affiliates, drafting correspondence and reports, and building and maintaining spreadsheets and electronic files.  
  • Will travel in and out-of-state to conduct monitoring, attend national service and federal grants trainings, attend the annual State Tribal Relations Training, and other development opportunities as time and budget allows

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities:

Knowledge of (or ability to learn in a reasonable amount of time):

  • Principles of risk assessment and compliance monitoring to effectively prevent, detect, and as necessary, resolve instances of non-compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Principles and practices of public administration, and the goals of national service programs.
  • Conducting and coordinating needs assessment and trainings to ensure program needs and input are incorporated into training and technical assistance.

Skill in:

  • Interpreting complex federal policies, rules, and regulations, technical report writing, and meeting multiple deadlines with accuracy.
  • Communicating mindfully with a wide variety of audiences, paying attention to detail, thinking analytically, and managing multiple priorities.
  • Public speaking, adult learning styles, continuous improvement, and working in a professional office setting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite programs, strongly preferred. 

Ability to:

  • Identify, analyze, and solve challenges facing national service grantees by maintaining professional relationships and staying current on AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Manage projects to completion, stay organized, give and receive constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a statewide and national network of national service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, organizational development or a related field plus 2 years directly related experience required.

OR

  • 5 years of directly related qualifying experience. 

OR

  • Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of federally funded national service or involvement with AmeriCorps programs (AmeriCorps) strongly preferred.  
  • Experience in compliance, nontraditional dynamic education, adult learning styles, managing projects, and administrative functions preferred.
