Position Summary

This dynamic role is essential for fostering effective program execution and maximizing the impact of our park improvement efforts. The position will play a crucial role in providing AmeriCorps project management support while also providing additional site supervision of AmeriCorps members throughout our county-wide park system. The ideal candidate will assist the Manager – Park Improvement and Beautification Project in the daily operations of the AmeriCorps service program. This role will focus on project management related to trail restoration, native planting, habitat rehabilitation, fencing, invasive species removal, and enhancements to public recreational facilities and programs. The position will also aid in managing member data in Egrants and OnCorps databases, ensuring accurate timekeeping and site supervision when the Manager is unavailable.

Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Assist efforts to develop, plan, implement, maintain initiative implemented by the AmeriCorps program.

• Responsible for the site supervision of AmeriCorps members and other volunteers while performing program tasks in the field. 

• Assist in recruitment, management, hiring, supervision of AmeriCorps members and other volunteers. 

• Assist the Manager in supporting, training, and coaching AmeriCorps members and other volunteers.

• Assistance strategizing and coordinating with Park planning and community partnerships on park improvement and beautification projects in the absence of the Manager.

• Assist in monitoring AmeriCorps and other park movement programs and evaluating and reporting on deadlines. Assist in grant program management.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Natural Science, Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resource, Forestry, Horticulture, or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience and valid driver's license. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills and show ability to balance multiple tasks and deadline assignments. Must be self-motivated and dependable. Demonstrate consistent ability to manage competing interests and resolve situations in a way that supports the mission, vision, and objectives of the department. Must perform a wide and diverse variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy, attentiveness, speed, and professionalism under the constant pressure of time-sensitive deadlines, budgetary constraints, and expectations of high-quality materials and outcomes. 

 

Independent Judgment

Working Conditions

This role will be a mixture of office setting and exposure to adverse environmental conditions. The position is expected to travel to various locations for work-related activities. This role may be in working environments that are very isolated (i.e. they are the only staff on site at a particular time).

 

Physical Conditions

1. Work indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions

2. Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of some weight (25-50) pounds on occasion. 

3. Tasks require the ability to perceive and hear sounds and see visual cues or signals

4. Task require the ability to sit, stand, crawl, kneel, and climb.

5. Task require the ability to communicate orally and respond to sounds.
