As our Senior Analyst, Information Systems you will design, develop, and support software applications and data reporting systems while establishing and supporting ServeMinnesota’s newly formed IT department. This role is split evenly between hands-on application and analytics work (70%) and IT leadership and governance (30%).

This position will be essential in implementing the organization’s IT technology strategy recommendations, developing cybersecurity policies and IT procedures, and managing the department’s budget and infrastructure. Simultaneously, the role will continue development and maintenance software application including Knack applications, Power BI dashboards, and data processes that support our AmeriCorps programs and internal operations.

Essential Job Functions

Application Development, Data Systems, and Reporting (70%)

  • Design, build, maintain and support critical data systems for AmeriCorps programs, primarily using Knack, to support program and operational needs.
  • Optimize current software and reporting solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and reports using SQL, Power Query, and DAX.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for staff regarding internal data systems and reporting.
  • Carry out business analysis across teams to understand business needs, gather requirements, and develop scalable, user-friendly data tools.
  • Support data integrity and validation efforts by analyzing data patterns and system inputs.
  • Manage integrations and automations using tools such as Power Automate or REST APIs.
  • Train and support staff on using applications and interpreting reports.

 IT, Cybersecurity, and Strategy (30%)

  • Act as the point of contact of ServeMinnesota’s IT department, overseeing infrastructure, vendors, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate ongoing cybersecurity compliance and risk mitigation remediation efforts from the organization’s recent IT audit, ensuring compliance and long-term risk reduction.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain IT policies, security protocols, and governance structures, drawing from frameworks such as CIS Controls.
  • Manage the IT department budget, contracts, software licenses, and service providers.
  • Evaluate and implement systems and services to improve organizational IT resilience, security, and scalability.
  • Support vendor relationships for outsourced IT services and security tools.
  • Lead efforts in backup and recovery, data privacy, and secure access management.

Other Job Functions

  • Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment between systems and programmatic needs.
  • Provide essential technical input on data strategy, business process automation, and tool evaluation.
  • Assist in creating training materials, SOPs, and user documentation.
  • Champion organizational digital transformation, cybersecurity (AI) awareness.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems, application development, or technology leadership.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Power BI (Power Query, DAX)
    • SQL/MySQL
    • Knack or comparable no-code/low-code platforms
    • HTML/CSS
    • Basic scripting or automation (e.g., Zapier, Power Automate)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, ideally knowing how to use Confluence/JIRA to document and manage projects
  • Demonstrated experience developing and enforcing IT or cybersecurity policies
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, especially when working with diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience overseeing or contributing to IT audit remediation
  • Familiarity with data security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls, HIPAA, FERPA)
  • Experience with vendor management, budgets, and strategic planning
  • Experience working with diverse communities or service-oriented nonprofits
