Position: South Carolina Operations Manager (1 FTE)

Reports To: NMHC COO 

Purpose: Lead the implementation of National Mental Health Corps (NMHC) in South Carolina

Background: NMHC is working to strengthen South Carolina’s mental health workforce pipeline by deploying AmeriCorps members to expand access to evidence-based and informed mental health interventions, prevention education, and community support services. Through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and community agencies across the state, NMHC aims to build local capacity, improve mental health outcomes, and create pathways for future behavioral health professionals in underserved communities.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Management

  • Provide direct communication on an ongoing basis to with COO and CEO
  • Lead and/or contribute to AmeriCorps events, including member and site supervisor calls, trainings and grantee conferences and symposiums
  • Adhere to program systems in accordance with federal law & program regulations
  • Conduct all required national service criminal history checks for covered individuals
  • Assist in the preparation of all required data for site visits, desk monitoring, and audits

Member Recruitment

  • Implement successful member recruitment strategies to meet NMHC member enrollment/retention goals
  • Maintain and organize member applications
  • Manage the interview calendar for applicants
  • Manage communication with applicants, including fielding questions, scheduling/ conducting interviews, and handing off to host site agencies
  • Coordinate with host site agencies to ensure a timely and smooth interview, offer, and onboarding process.
  • Assist host sites with local recruitment, including review of member requirements, successful recruitment strategies, and interview support

Host Site / Member Management

  • Work in close coordination with host sites to place and enroll members
  • Collect, review, and maintain member enrollment documentation and timesheets
  • Assist with planning and coordination of service events, training and development events, including AmeriCorps member and host site meetings.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with host site supervisors over the course of the service year and assist, when appropriate, with challenges that may arise.

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Manage all necessary data collection and reporting
  • Maintain accurate program records and documentation
  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting on grant performance data
  • Support outside Evaluator with implementation of annual evaluation plan

Fund Development & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and cultivate potential funding partners including foundations, corporations, higher education institutions, and individual donors
  • Support the development of sustainability strategies for long-term program growth in South Carolina
  • Represent NMHC at meetings, conferences, webinars, and community events
  • Deliver presentations and informational sessions to prospective partners and stakeholders

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assist the COO and CEO with other tasks as needed depending on the week/ situation

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the South Carolina Operations Manager must share a passion for NMHC’s mission to empower aspiring mental health professionals by creating career pathways that strengthen community mental health.  Additionally, we're looking for candidates who possess a combination of the following:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Previous experience with AmeriCorps, staff or member
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to details and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and meticulously
  • Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in a fast paced and evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills; ability to navigate, work across, and invest multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills within all audiences engaged
  • Diplomatic nature with excellent problem solving skills
  • Desire to work in a healthy, positive and fun team environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be located in South Carolina
  • Some travel required within South Carolina
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

 

COMPENSATION

NMHC offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees.  

Pay is $70,000 annually and is non-negotiable.
